Bad News

In light of the New York Times investigation into video news releases, it's worth remembering that the reason the Bush administration has been able to get away with funding fake news for so long is because TV news is just. so. bad. Here's a funny and probing reminder: "Bad News," by Steven Mikulan, from LA Weekly (December 24, 1999) (download .pdf). I nominated this for an alt. press award back when and it remains one of my favorite stories about the state of TV news.
