MTA goes after F Line Bagels
So a couple of brothers, Faried and Fowad Assad, open a bagel shop in Carroll Gardens and name it after the subway's F Line, F Line Bagels. They buy more than $1,000 of subway memorabilia from the MTA website--including poles and vintage signs--and use it to decorate the place. In come the lawyers, demanding that the Assad brothers "immediately cease and desist from using MTA's intellectual property in connection with your store."
"If they don't want people to use this stuff, then why make it available for anyone to buy?" Faried Assad asks. Good question.
