Taco Bell Got Its Bell Rung!

The Coalition of Imokolee Workers won a victory over Taco Bell and Yum! Brands (KFC, A&W, Long John Silver's and Pizza Hut) yesterday after starting a boycott over 3 years ago.  During those years Yum! Brands insisted that they had no control over the workers conditions because they were buying from a vendor, not hiring the workers directly.  The CIW put the pressure on and after a few years, whattaya know, somehow Taco Bell found a way to make it work!

Although there is still much to fight for ("'[the increase] would mean almost reaching the poverty level,' Benitez said, speaking through an interpreter."), this is a huge, long fought for victory for labor.  Who knows where this energy will lead....
