Support our pants

SupportourpantsMy friends Thomas and Pat made these great magnets to put on the back of cars (available for $2.49 at Stickergiant). Thomas bought an ad for these in the upcoming Stay Free! but this doesn't count as a conflict-of-interest because he didn't pay very much.

On the subject of memes: What's the deal with all the "support our troops" ribbon magnets being sideways? It seems like the ribbon was designed to be vertical, but one person started putting it sideways and now everyone thinks it should be that way.

I think what may be the case is that one of the early iterations was too tall to fit vertically on the trunk of a mid-sized sedan (but not an SUV?) so people started putting them sideways and now everyone does it, even for the smaller copycat versions that would fit vertically on a car trunk.

The stickers are placed sideways because that way they resemble the "Christian fish".

Or perhaps because some people just can't handle reading things in directions other than horizontal.

Would they go insane browsing through a library?
