Beer for kids

BeerforkidsFollowing on the heels of candy-flavored cigarettes and kiddie deodorant, a Japanese company is marketing a nonalcoholic drink it calls Kidsbeer:

"Even kids cannot stand life unless they have a drink," reads the product's advertising slogan.

[...]

Satoshi Tomoda, president of the beverage maker, said: "Children copy and mimic adults. If you get this drink ready on such occasions as events and celebrations attended by kids, it would make the occasions even more entertaining."

All of a sudden those pre-teen tampons are starting to sound realistic after all...

I hate beer, even though I have a fridge full of it right now. I'd love to try kidsbeer - the labels look beautiful, and apparently it's a less-sweet version of guarana cola. Anyone know where I can get some in New York? Anyone going to Japan willing to bring some back for me?

maybe you got it all wrong.. maybe it's beer MADE from kids!

think about it.

So... since it's non-alcoholic, it's okay for my kid to drink it while she's on her antidepressants, right?

In matters beer, the Germans have the Japanese beat by several decades. When I was a kid living in Germany in the earlt eighties, I'd consume gallons of "malt beer"; a vaguely lager flavored beverage sold in real little beer bottles. It kept me away from half empty cans at my parents parties for -ooh- about 20 minutes.

This is great - love the slogan!! And given the pressures of being overscheduled up the butt by type-A parents, the stresses of being doped to the gills on antidepressants, and the soon-to-flourish brain tumor health crisis stemming from kids using cellphones non stop, booze for kids comes just in the nick of time!!
