Kanye West video

KanyewestWhatever you think of the Bush adminstration's response to Katrina and the claims made about it, you must watch the video clip of rapper Kanye West's appearance on NBC's Hurricane Relief benefit. The expression on Mike Myers's face at the end is simply priceless -- a rare moment of something real poking through television's gloss. (I especially love how it looks like West is reading off a teleprompter, even though he's most certainly not.)

This clip did provide a nice laugh and response from my mom who walked into the room as Kayne dropped his bomb. It's rather disturbing as the news continues to come in about the lack of cooperation and the vast amount of bureaucracy that has helped make this situation so tragic.

There's another clip from Meet the Press on Mike Moore's site that's very powerful as well. Props to Kayne for being fearless and not caring about looking bad. His rep will take a hit no doubt. Bigger props to everyone who has open their hearts, wallets, homes and resources to all the people affected. All the politics is just noise, service is the only thing that matters now.

yeah, big props to Kanye for spewing outright idiocy on live tv.

The news puts all of it's focus on the New Orleans flood. That's understandable. That is where the news crews hunkered down before the storm, and New Orleans has much more compelling visuals-people with guns, people being air-lifted, and dead bodies floating in the water.

On the other hand, 90,000 miles of kindling and rubble all look the same. If an entire town is gone, what is there to show? It may be good for a 90 second story, but after that it's BORING!!!). Besides, the people in New Orleans are a lot more fun to watch.

But Gulfport Mississippi is where the Hurricane hit, it is where the highest death toll is, and it continues to be the last area to get assistance.

Oh, and one more thing. Most of the victims there are white, so if the African-Americans are being neglected, who is it that is getting all of the attention?
