I Ain't Sayin' He's A Gold Digger
I want to avoid the obvious headline but Evel Knievel ain't suing no broke niggas, so what am I suppossed to do?
Evel Knievel is suing Kanye West for imitating him in his Touch The Sky video. I agree that it would be hard for Kanye to argue that the scene isn't an homage to the Snake River Canyon jump - but it's also pretty hard for America's Legendary Daredevil to argue that it isn't a parody.

What are you supposed to do? Probably not use the n-word, for one. Even if you are paraphrasing the Kanye song, and even if it does end with "a" instead of "er."

Jack, stop acting so niggardly. I mean, do you hold grievances against The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, a book written by a white man featuring a main character named "Nigger Jim"?
censhorship sucks balls, dude

Gmail has been acting balky all day, so I'm going to try to reconstruct for myself what happened.
On Wednesday "Janet" submitted a racist comment to this post. I deleted it the same day. Then today someone, perhaps Janet, noticed that the first post was deleted and made another comment. Jack responded to that comment. The "why was my comment deleted" comment was deleted by someone else (probably Carrie). Goose chimed in.
Goose, your counterexamples are facile. Going all Kramer on Kanye West is a far cry from Twain's use of the name Nigger Jim to establish Finn's upbringing and point of view. If you don't understand the very different context that makes the name of Twain's character not only acceptable but necessary, I can't help you. Using Nigger Jim to defend public use of the word as an insult is almost as bad as using the fact of the name to ban the book.
Calling someone a ni**er is racist (and, so there is no mistake, that's what Janet's original comment did) and I have no qualms about moderating racist comments. I am not the government and this is not a 100% free speech zone.
Racism sucks balls, dude, and there are plenty of places to free that expression. This isn't one of them.

Actually, I didn't see any of that unfortunate sounding comments exchange. My comment was in reference to your use of the n-word, Charles.
As for Twain - comparing blog posts and comments in 2006 to a book written in 1884 is apples and oranges, through and through. Both the book and Twain himself are products of their time; we live in a very different time, with thankfully different standards.
Additionally, for accuracy's sake, Jim is just named Jim in the book; "N***** Jim" was first used in a 1912 biography of Twain.
