My New Favorite Thing: Catalog-Busting

Junkmailcatalogs We live in a two-family building and get piles of catalogs addressed to people I've never heard of. But this website, Catalog Choice, makes getting off catalog mailing lists easy, even when the catalogs aren't addressed to you personally. (The only catch is that you need to type in the "customer number"—so you can't do do it from memory.)

I've been adding the catalogs as they come in since I heard about this on NY1. I've just been checking the "Not Available" box for the customer number. I'm not a customer for most of this garbage, anyway.

It remains to be seen whether or not it will have any effect. I'm waiting for two months from now to see if it has any impact.
